This was an intriguing story. I’ve loved missionary stories since I was young, but I’ve rarely come across biographies of missionaries who were serving their own tribes like what was described here. I’m also not sure I’ve read a book set in the 1800s in Indonesia before—that, too, was fascinating!
As with almost every other missionary biography I’ve read, I came away from this book encouraged by the stories of God showing Himself trustworthy and leading and guiding His children. show more This wasn’t a stand-out read; the writing style was good, but slow in places, and I struggled to get a firm grasp on what the tribal context was like. But overall, it was a good read, and I’m glad I took the time for it. show less
