Wow! Slavers in the Rocky Mountains in the early 1800's - had no idea. What an adventure; from greenhorns to Winona getting captured by Slavers, Nate losing his sight for much of the story and a nail biter to the very last page. Yet another fantastic installment of Wilderness by David Thompson.

Not my favorite Wilderness book but not my least favorite. I thought Nate becoming obsessed with slaying a panther or mountain lion was a little out of character, as only he was in danger no family members or friends. And he could have easily left the domain of the Mountain Cat and been done with it. He seemed to stay in the valley for one reason; to seek revenge on the panther. Not a great quality for our wilderness hero. Another great adventure for Nate and his family. With his friend, Shakespeare, in need of a doctor and word that his old flame, Adaline, is searching for him, Nate, Shakespeare, Winona, Blue Water Woman and Zach head for St. Louis.To say they did not make it unscathed, would be an understatement.An inheritance, plots of murder and deception, a slaver and revenge keep this story moving fast.

Nathaniel and Shakespeare head out for some hunting and to teach Nathaniel the proper ways to trap beaver - as usual their plans are disrupted when a trapper from Ohio arrives and tells a tale of escaping from a war party of Blackfeet."Grizzly Killer" has yet another run in with a hungry Grizzly, The Ohioan and Shakespeare are captured by the Blackfeet and with the help of an Ute, Nathaniel sets his friends free but in the attempt gets captured himself...Full of adventure, battles and narrow show more escapes, David Thompson has created yet another fantastic read. show less
