This is one of the best I've seen to learn how to make traditional pieced or appliqued quilts. Fons and Porter cover tools and supplies, basic piecing methods, drafting blocks, using a rotary cutter, settings and borders, and both hand and machine quilting. Their directions are clear and easy to follow, and there are abundant pictures to illustrate the techniques they present. All along the way there are small projects for the reader to complete to practice each new skill.

My first quilt-instruction book, about more 20 years ago, now. Everything you need to learn as a beginner patchwork and quilt maker. Advanced techniques included so a reference that grows with you as you master the projects.
This is a great book for beginners and experienced quilters alike. Each project teaches a different quilting technique, and the directions for biased binding and Liz's Lumpless Finish are priceless.
If I had pick only one quilting book to be in my collection this would be the one. This book explains everything. No quilter's library should be without this book.
