Solid but unexceptional film where hot-tempered Ford is sent to prison for manslaughter after accidentally killing a man while drunk. The world's nicest DA, Broderick Crawford, really doesn't want to do it, but when a man dies, someone has to pay. He even lectures Ford's stupid lawyer on how to try the case--and is, of course ignored. So, Ford goes to prison where three years later Crawford shows up again--now he's he world's nicest warden and he and his beautiful daughter, Dorothy Malone, show more are living at the prison. Once again, he tries to do the stubborn, hot-tempered Ford a good deed, and that's all I'm going to tell you. I loved seeing Dobie Gillis's father playing a really weaselly convict who plays a key role in the revenge drama at the center of the story. show less
