First rate SF adventure yarn, fine special effects by Ray Harryhausen. The balloon escape at the beginning is worth the price of admission, and the rest is a lot of fun. Terrific musical score by Bernard Herrmann!
2022 movie #161. 1948. Reporter wants to find a secret document his friend was killed over. A bit of a sendup of a noir film. The tough guy reporter socks a woman (Barbara Billingsly, The Beaver's Mom!) on the jaw at one point. Almost everyone after this thing is murdered but him
2024 movie #168. 1952. Tarzan leads 2 shady Englishmen to a cache of diamonds. The savage fury part is when he throws one of these guys off a cliff. For the first time in the movies it is revealed that Tarzan is Lord Graystoke. This was Lex Barker's 4th stint (of 5) as Tarzan.
2022 movie #14. 1957. Cut throat English dump truck drivers out race each other to earn a pay bonus. Lots of fast driving trucks on the wrong side of the road! Pretty good. Early appearances by Patrick McGoohan. Sean Connery, David McCallum and Jill Ireland.
