The History of Tommy Playlove and Jacky Lovebook: Wherein is Shewn the Superiority of Virtue Over Vice, However Dignified by Birth or Fortune by Stephen Jones
Read via Internet Archive, where I stumbled across it.
Interesting old book from 1815. It is around 50ish pages and is about a young boy who is spoiled rotten and never reprimanded by his mother. He befriends a boy who is his polar opposite, whose positive influence, along with running into trouble, allow the spoiled youngster to reform his behavior. It is loaded with morals and at times feels quite preachy, but I really enjoyed getting to see some parenting aspects from the early 1800's. show more Certain principles of parenting have not really seemed to change it seems. I will definitely be going through more vintage texts using Internet Archive to see what other gems I may stumble upon. Just because a book isn't popular or new, doesn't mean it isn't interesting or worth reading through. show less
