Grimm (AO3)

Grimm is one of my favorite writers for a solidly entertaining Sterek. This one included This had a nicely seedy premise and a dark, underground crime feel to it, but ended a touch too sweet - a good read as a whole anyways.Â

Here's the premise if you want it: Peter owns an underground fighting league, Derek is a big scary fighter, Stiles owes Peter $500k - and no real way of paying him back. Peter gifts" Stiles to Derek - to make Derek happy by any means possible. Derek is dark in show more this one, giving into his anger via fighting and isolating himself, but he doesn't cross the lines he could have crossed with Stiles. And eventually a friendship and more grows. show less

Derek is the wealthy lonely millionaire obsessed with Stiles, the virgin college kid needing money who has a live show porn feed of him solo. A somewhat pretty woman set-up.

This should be a lot angstier than it is. I will admit to totally enjoying it though. It is a really easy read and though the relationship should have had a lot of trip ups they were easily over come. (Seriously, to resolve "the big misunderstanding", Derek says, "Sorry", Stiles says, "Okay, I am sorry to" - show more and they're happy again.) Honestly it was a healthy relationship where they worked on their communication (I like to save that for real life not fiction).

Slave!Stiles, Master-esque?!Derek, Derek POV.

As far as the Sterek slave fics go, this one is decent. The world is a bit strange because it is contemporary - werewolves are known and are the ruling race, humans can be accepted in and protected by a pack, but many not pack affiliated humans are corralled and auctioned. The hunters are as dangerous to humans as to werewolves. Stiles is guarded (as his experiences dictate) and Derek is conflicted. Nice tension for a quick read.

Sequel to Last Call. A few months after the end of Last Call, Derek and Stiles have fallen into a domestic love birds routine. Until Stiles is seriously injured one day at work does Derek realize how much he really cares for him.

Feels, angst. A lot of time spent in Derek's head thinking about Stiles and their relationship. Pulls on some heart strings, but there is an HEA and you know it's coming, so you will be okay through it.
