Comic-book adaptation of the 'lost' Doctor Who episode "Mission to the Unknown". It was drawn by fan cartoonist Tim Keable, back in the late 1980s – when fanzines were at their height and 1960s Who was viewed with the awe of a distant reliquary. The art's impressive given its amateur provenance, with the squishy, cartoonish edges lending it a certain charm. Keable keeps enough of the original design that this feels like a faithful adaptation, but is also open to exploiting the broader show more limits of comic books (the Gearon ship roaring overhead across a splash page is particularly impressive). The weak link is Terry Nation's dialogue. He may've had no idea how people actually spoke – and a shaky grasp of astronomy – but both he and Keable know how to spin a damn good adventure. show less
