This was a pretty entertaining book of essays. However I was shocked at how many of the essays, even when they wrote about how much they hated the "happily ever after (with a man)" storyline, finished their essays with something like "and then I got married." Probably close to half of these essays were written by people who are currently married after having spent some time time single.
Every woman, whether single or coupled, will find a reflection of herself somewhere in this book. These essays show the reality of being single in the modern world, without all of the stereotypes. It's a welcome change from the usual portrayal of single women in the media as either spinsters or sluts.
Rather bitter story of a mindless social climber being harried by her sister to support worthy causes...
Strange tale of an unlikely romance with a couple who go to virtual reality experiences, one of whom is a composer...
