Chris Rice traces his time living in Jackson, Mississippi, from 1981 to 1998 and his friendship and work with Spencer Perkins working for racial reconciliation, and attending the interracial church Voice of Calvary. He describes the joys and the difficulties in his relationship with Spencer Perkins, who died in 1998 and is completely honest about his own weaknesses that played into many of those difficulties. Chris and Donna Rice, Spencer and Nancy Perkins, and several others lived in show more community from 1986 to 1998. This is a very personal story of two people, one white and one black who travel a road together of friendship, ministry, community, and how they learn, sometimes in very hard, painful ways, to continue loving, forgiving and extending grace to one another as they both grow in Jesus into the people they were meant to be. Very well written. show less
