A man is released from prison after he is given a job by a cousin who lives on a Canadian Island. He meets a young woman, surrounded by their strange relatives and even stranger goings on , they fall in love. Ms Sterns uses the most unusual and entertaining figures of speech such as 'the flames leapt around it like pagans after a sacrifice' . A witty , gothic romance that entertains from the first page.
