The idea is shear genius, amazing. What a great way to get art, stories, pictures of the human experience.

But I was so bored. I was troubled by the diminutive size of the book; I know it was mimicking the journals that were sent out, but the work of strangers deserved a larger format. I am sure there is a lot of amazing prose, but I can't read it. The experience felt more like flicking through Google Images than a book.

If enlightened voyeurism is what you're after, stick with Frank Warren's show more series of Post Secret Books. Large format, great messages. show less
This is one where I find I prefer the concept over the execution. Many of the images and styles were so similar that eventually they just started to blur together but I can't tell if this was due to so many of the images they were presented with being so similar or if it was due to the images the people who put this book together ended up choosing. This was worth reading and I found it somewhat inspirational but still feel it could have come out better.
This book came through my department in the library, and I'm so glad it did! Otherwise, I might not have heard about it. I think this 1000 Journals Project is an intriguing idea, and I enjoyed "reading" through the book, which is a compilation of some of the journal entries submitted to date. While some of the journal pages had text, many others had artwork of some sort. Going through this book was both charming and insightful, a refreshing combination in the middle of a busy week.
Voyeuristic. Inspirational. Entertaining. One thousand blank journals are currently circulating throughout the world, beckoning contributors who find the journals by chance on trains, in caf s, and anonymously left on doorsteps. Artist Someguy shares more than 250 of the best entries: a collage of African countries repositioned into a new continent; the musings of a teen trapped in a drug- ravaged community; a student's humorous personal ad for his ideal girlfriend ("C-cup required!"). A show more faux leather cover and two beautifully embroidered pages bring the look and feel of the original journals to life. The perfect gift for journalists, aspiring artists, designers, and anyone who can't wait for one of the journals to magically appear in their lives. show less
