This is a bizarre, nearly incoherent, possibly unauthorized 8 page abridgment of a 1971 96 page children's book about a bookish tugboat who clears a traffic jam. What's not to love?
Alice follows a rabbit into his burrow, where she falls into a strange house. She drinks a drink that makes her shrink very small, and finally eats something that makes her large again. She has several strange encounters on her journey, including the Queen, Cheshire Cat, and deck of cards. She is finally awakened by her sister to find out it was all a dream.
This is a wonderful story. It was one of my favorites as a child; however, this book is such a shortened version of it that it does not show more even make sense to anybody that is new to the story. It is more of like a review if you already KNOW the story of Alice in Wonderland. The pop-up pictures are wonderful, though!
As an extension, we could further study the story by watching the movie afterward. We could pick out morals out of the story. We could also use the short pop-up book as a model to discuss a lesson over nouns, pronouns, verbs, etc. by pointing them all out. show less

When the queen found out she was having a daughter, twelve fairies in the land were invited to be the Princess' godmothers. However, a thirteenth fairy arrived, angry that she was not invited. This angry fairy cast a spell on the princess, saying she will prick her finger and die in the future. One fairy was able to change the spell, but not completely. Instead of her dying, she made it to where the princess will fall asleep for one hundred years and the king's son will wake her and marry show more her.
This is a pop-up storybook that is just too cute to pass up. Who doesn't love the traditional story of the Sleeping Beauty? This was my favorite fairy-tale when I was a child.
Coming up with an extension for this book was difficult, but I do have a wonderful and educational idea. As a writing lesson, I could have all of the students come up with a fairy-tale of their own. This could be an assignment that has to be done alone, or I could split the classroom into groups and have each group come up with one. show less

Board book about a little lamb that is sweltering in her wool. I wonder why the lamb just wasn't sheared?
