Elaborate comedy mix-ups in a faux-Western. Not PC in any way whatsoever.
Watched a long time ago and loved it. Re-watched with a son's teen-aged children, who walked out sporadically when the action slowed down; it seems a little sillier now, and is definitely much slower-paced than current films, but was still hilarious.
Easy to read book by writer John Gay who wrote screenplays for Run Silent, Run Deep, Separate Tables, Soldier Blue, and many others. The chapters are 2 or 3 pages and each one makes you want to read more. However, several misspellings that should have been caught such as Louise Rainer instead of Luise Rainer and Charles Loughton for Charles Laughton always make me wish for better editors for these books. Additionally the book mentioned Helen Hayes starring in Queen Victoria on Broadway but show more it was actually Victoria Regina. However, it was great to read the stories on Clark Gable, Henry Fonda, John Huston, and working for Hecht-Hill-Lancaster. show less
2023 movie #176. 1968. The chief scientists running a project on human endurance for the space program are being killed 1 by 1 by telekinesis. Hamilton and Pleshette must find the killer before he kills them. Kind of terrible but fun as well. Motive for the killings? Unknown.
2022 movie #25. 1963. Widower's (Ford) son (Howard) wants a new mom. He doesn't like his father's choice (Merrill) so he acts out until he picks the lady next door (Jones). Little Ronnie Howard, already a 7-year veteran actor at age 9 steals the show.
