As far as historical reads go for teens, this was a pretty cute one. There is a definite Ever After vibe to the story that keeps you flipping pages, routing on Sarah from the very beginning. Having been passed off at birth, marked with a tattoo that was the insignia of her royal lineage, Sarah grew up knowing nothing about her past. All she knew was that Miranda, her adopted mother, was her protector and biggest fan. Going against the grain of other "Cinderella" tales, in this one it is her show more step-father who comes to resent her, especially after Miranda's death. Sarah then has to try to impress the king's nephew, Lord Chad, who seems more bent on her step-sister. Along the way she meets a different, mysterious young man, who she meets while out on one of her outdoor adventures. Little does she know, this young man might just be the real key to her happiness and freedom.
In characteristic fairytale-like style, this story has a bit of royal intrigue, a bit of romance, and a bit of history all rolled into one. While the use of descriptors in the story (adjectives and adverbs) were used in odd ways and too often, you soon become accustomed to them and focus more on the story than some of the language issues. Honestly, I think that teen girl readers would really love this book for its ease in storytelling and sweet romantic tale. I have no doubt that girls would really enjoy this slightly different telling and wouldn't think twice about how the story was told. show less

In Mark of Royalty we learn that Sarah was born first and given the royal birthmark....
But since she was a girl and had a twin brother follow her she was sent away...
For the prophecy said "It shall be the son, the firstborn in the new monarchy, who shall quiet the fears and unite the nation again."
Sarah grew and learned of her true identity...and fell in love with the prince
NOW...as the story continues...
Sarah must prove herself worthy of marrying the prince.
To do so "she must return to her show more home country of Kyrnidan to face her destiny."
What she wasn't planning on is the upheaval of the people and the opposition of the council against her return.
While some want her to take the throne away from her brother, other plans are being laid to kill her.
When Sarah's bodyguard suggests that she run away with him and leave the life of royalty and her waiting prince...she is definitely tempted...
Two men, a divided nation, and one prophecy
Sarah "must now determine where her love and loyalties truly lie."
Which way would you choose?
AN AMAZING STORY!
LOVE and BATTLES and a "JOURNEY of SELF-DISCOVERY"
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK! show less

This story is SO GOOD!
A babe born to fulfill a prophecy is given the royal birthmark...
Only to discover she is a daughter, not the son that she was suppose to be...
And when her twin brother is born right after her...
He is also given the royal birthmark and the daughter is whisked away to save her life.
The girl is raised by a woman who is determined to love her and give her all the advantages she might have had had she remained at the castle.
She gives her the name of Sarah, but her royal show more heritage is fully kept from all.
As time goes on Sarah has a chance to marry the king's nephew...but her heart is set on another.
"As plots against the crown unfold, someone accidentally discovers Sarah's secret mark of royalty—setting the stage for discoveries that will shake the kingdom to its core."
Sarah has a chance to run...
Will she take it~
OR will she be given the chance to fulfill the prophecy as she was born to do?
What would YOU do?
A FUN read!
