A quick and simple overview of the anti-slavery movement in the United States covering the origins of slavery to the Civil War. Throughout this brief history the people introduced are given a context in which they relate to the overarching theme of anti-slavery. The story flows through the pages in a chronological order that causes the reader to grasp what was going on in the time period. The extensive pictures and illustrations that are incorporated with the text enhance the book and help show more to make the story on the pages come to life. This would be an excellent book for a public library in the non-fiction section for late elementary and middle school students. show less
