Cryptography and Network Security: Principles and Practice (2nd Edition) by William Stallings

Comprehensive and conveniently terse, but way too obtuse . Does cover IPSEC and S/Mime. Like many specialists, his attempt to tack on a couple chapters on general security issues are lame at points.

Computer Security: Principles and Practice by William Stallings

I found this book to be a very good and informative book. In my opinion this was one of the better texts selected for the degree. It covers a lot of ground dealing with computer security and how to go about assessing and mitigating risks and vulnerabilities. I learned a great deal reading this book.
