Opposing viewpoints books are a collection of academic articles that argue against one another. The organization is nice because articles that argue against one another are placed next to each other. The articles are also grouped according to overarching arguments to help organizing major themes in arguments.

The language is geared towards college level/academic readers. The language is very sophisticated and an advanced vocabulary is required to fully understand the arguments. This book is show more not recommended for high school. If anything, some occasional articles may be used in the classroom, but some guidance will be required.

The tone in each article is very academic, serious, and authoritarian. They back up that tone with highbrow vocabulary and an extensive works cited. Depending on the reader, the language could be off-putting. In my opinion, some articles use unnecessary vocabulary to sound more sophisticated.
