This is a part of a series, called 'the Best Me I can be!' It has drawings of children illustrating the polite way to do things, mostly in a school setting. The children look like 2nd or 3rd graders, so that would appeal to pre-k through first grade students.

I like this series for its simplicity. The drawings are concise and to the point, modeling good behavior. I like books that show what is right to do, with the children looking happy with their choices.

This book would be good to use in a show more theme about manners. It would also be good for the first week of school as an introduction to the school rules. For older children, it could be a model for a writing class of how to make a book to teach a new skill. show less
I had mixed feelings about this book after reading it. I liked this book because it explains what friends are to children, showing them what they should be to their classmates, care and love them. I did not like this book because I was bored reading it. I felt as if there was nothing interesting written and the language was not very descriptive, it was straight forward. I know a child would not be as bored, but I felt like it could have been written in a more exciting way. The language was show more clear, but put right to the idea. The characters were believable and the illustrations fit the written text perfectly, showing friends and what they do for one another. The big message for this story was to be a good friend and to make the children think about the things friends do for one another. show less
This picture book by David Parker demonstrates children showing simple acts of caring for others. This book teaches children about actions they can do to let others know that they care. The illustrations are cute and colorful.
This is a short book of telling ways to show respect. Things that the kids can do at home and school to show respect for themselves, friends, teachers, and parents.

The word of the day was respect, adn this was a great example. We decided to keep a marble jar, and add a marble everytime someone was seen showing respect to a friend or teacher.

As an extension we just gave more examples of how to show respect and talked about why we show respect.
