- Pioneering zoologist who started on the faculty of the University of California, Davis, in 1923. For many years Storer was the only zoology faculty member, founding what would become a top-ranked ecology and evolutionary biology graduate program. He did the original research for the ground-breaking survey of the animals of Yosemite beginning in 1914. He wrote a classic textbook
