Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe mysteries are in my top three favorites for the mystery genre. These adaptations with Timothy Hutton portraying Archie Goodwin and Maury Chaykin as Nero Wolfe are about as good as it gets for a visual treat of the stories. The colors, rooms, costumes are all delicious. It is very much like theatre with the same actors in most episodes. At first I found Hutton and Chaykin a bit much, over-acting, but they settled into their parts further on. I was also not sure that show more Hutton could be Archie Goodwin (one of my fictional loves), but he pulled it off. show less
