I would have absolutely loved this as a child. Maybe even my mother would have. It is that old, but the themes are timeless. I just wish we still learned music, so I could sing the tunes of the author's home of Tennessee. I see that there is a companion book, probably equally hard to find, but I will look for it.

(Even harder to find. This, at least, is on openlibrary.org so we can read it for free. I would love to get the hardback to a good home, though. And yet neither of these are even in show more the database at paperbackswap.) show less
