So I haven't read book 1in the series, but you get plenty of background of what happened through well placed comments in the book so you can easily get good idea of what happened and how Trixie ending up living life on the high seas as well as having the Captain and the Detective vying for her attention. Alas for all concerned Trixie's douche canoe soon to be ex is on this cruise and causing mayhem not only by being a murder suspect but also vying for Trixie to come back to him then having show more bimbo's all over him. I loved how you are kept guessing who the killer is and why they did it as well as the fantastic location the cruise goes to, the ghosts that pop up and lets not forget the great characters like Nettie and Bess (oh and Scarlett) as well as the two dashing men who almost push and shove each other to get close to Trixie!!!
I can not wait for the next in the series to see what crazy antics everyone gets up to as well as where things go next for Trixie and her love life. .

Cuteness personified from cover to cover! My attention was first captivated by the title, "Kittyzen's Arrest" and then the 2 cuties on the cover. I quickly learned that the kitten is a 4-month-old black-and-white, long-haired tabby. The kitten was named Fish by Elizabeth (better known as Bizzy) Baker after being found out behind Bizzy's sister's soap and candle shop named Lather and Light. Bizzy and Fish live in Cider Cove, Maine, where Bizzy is the manager of the Country Cottage Inn. Bizzy show more has a rare talent, being able to read the minds of humans and animals. That's where the real fun of the story begins. Oh, the things people and animals are thinking when they are around Bizzy. All I can say is that some of those thoughts are hilarious and easy identified throughout the story as they appear as bold and italicized.
And when the new detective, Jasper Wilder, begins investigating a murder, we meet the 2nd cutie from the cover, Sherlock Bones. At that point, the cuteness of the story ramps up to sizzling!
Bizzy may think there are some drawbacks in being able to read minds - particularly those human thoughts - but I must confess that reading the thoughts of Fish and Sherlock are at the top of my list for delights of this mystery. To me, it's a special delight for all who adore their cats and dogs.
Many adjectives come to mind as I write my review —cute, adorable, delightful, and charming —but the one at the top of my list is fun! In fact, it's fun and ends with a cliff-hanger, and since I can't wait to know what happens next, I downloaded "Dog Days of Murder" (Book 2 of the series) and read the 1st chapter before powering off my tablet. show less

As of now I am not able to finish this book, the heroine is just so grating on my nerves. The book started off fairly well but it took a turn for the worse, not disastrously so but I can't force myself to continue reading it. The heroine, Skyla is so annoying, I liked her for maybe the first ten or so chapters but as the book went on she started to annoy me. Her personality and inner thoughts seemed to change the minute she met Logan Oliver and Gage Oliver. When she started dating Logan she show more became, impulsive and immature. Skyla was also a very jealous person, she was so jealous of his dead ex-girlfriend, I mean, she's dead and they broke up before she died. She was even jealous of the non-existent or prospective girls in Gage's life. She's pretty enamored with him but is always kinda mean to him when their around each other. I like Gage, he was described in a easy going way. Her jealousy even got a bit venomous for a moment there, I was surprised. She judges people by their appearance as well. She made her step-brother sound horrendous but her cute friend and neighbor thinks he's cute and get's involved with him, so maybe it's the brother or step-brother thing that make her see him has Drakeula, or monkey-boy has she calls him.
Skyla and Logan's mind reading ability seems one-sided. He's always answering her internal conflicts, but she never reads his thoughts except for their first initial encounters when he spoke to her through their thoughts. I guess their always holding hands or touching, never sure until he answers her thoughts and she asks him if he can't turn it off, he said he doesn't think so but yet she doesn't say anything about his thoughts. Maybe she forgets to listen to his, since she's always in her head thinking about a lot of rubbish or he's better at clearing his mind. Guess I just answered my question. Oh, and she even crushes on his cousin Gage sometimes when Logan's touching her.
What clinched it for me to step away from the book was the impromptu party she threw while her mother and step-father(who by the way doesn't seem to like her and vice versa) were away for the weekend. They trashed the place but she completely blames the entire thing on her friend Brielle and seem to wholeheartedly believe she has no fault. Even after she used the party as a cover to leave her home and go where Logan told her to stay away from, she actually left a bunch of teenagers she doesn't know in her home without her supervision. I was embarrassed for her when her mother told her she threw a party when she was young and she didn't get caught because she did a better job at cleaning up, and I'm sure she didn't leave her party too. I know it's such a simple thing but she blamed Brielle for talking her into throwing the party; which she herself brought up first to change a topic she didn't want to discuss. I wondered if this was written on purpose by the author, does she want Skyla to come off as a immature brat.
The plot so far sounds interesting but I just didn't want to be in Skyla's head anymore. I stopped at chapter 28 when there are 54 chapters, so I was half-way thru, I just couldn't continue. Some of the characters sound interesting and it would have been nice to see if she ended up with Logan or Gage in the end. For now this book is on ice, don't if and when I give it another go. show less

I finish. I finish! Round of applause please for my courage to force myself through this book.
Ugh. UGH. UGGGH.
Do not even bother to read this book. Seriously. I think something's wrong with me.. I didn't read the blurb and this is what I get! (I am that stressed at school lol) This book can cause your eyes to hurt from rolling them so much. This also could result in intense migraines.
Wrong things about this book:
1. The first meeting, emphasis on first, the girl went home with the guy she show more barely knew. Duuuude seriously?
2. The guy was such a playboy. The girl thought that it would be nice to be the campus' playgirl. And she wonder if he could teach her the basics. Oh crap. Just horrible.
3. The girl fell in love even though this guy screams trouble! I know some people like bad boy type of guys but noooo, I can't stand this.
4. Of course, the woman will change the man. She was the beeeeest thing that has ever happened to him. He luuuurve her already. She's DIFFERENT from other girls.. Gag me.
5. Of course, there is also the jealous ex-girlfriend. And some petty misunderstandings. Really, formulaic NA. I want to strangle this couple!
There were so many other things that was just so wrong. It was too many so I wouldn't write it all down. That ending though.. It was just so hilariously bad. At least, I earned a few laughs.
Just stay away from this thing, I mean book. Why the hell did I even read this one? show less
