I've seen this in my library today and the cover was awesome and the pop up hand inside and I thought I have to read this! I love reading zombie books and this is the first nonfiction one I've read. It was interesting and silly. I've learned a lot. I normally am not a fan of history but this subject kept me wanting to read more.
The Werewolf Handbook: An Essential Guide to Werewolves and, More Importantly, How to Avoid Them by Robert Curran
A brief history of canine shape-shifters found across much of the globe starts this look into the world of the werewolf. Numerous historical figures can be said to be acquainted with werewolves, and a variety of werewolves are defined.
Narrative is crisp, authentic, and laced with humor. There are a few test your friends/etc for werewolfism tests which are fun.
Numerous historical and cinema stills are inserted throughout allowing for further depth to the text and potential reference to the show more time periods discussed.
Overall, a fun read! show less

The Zombie Handbook: An Essential Guide to Zombies and, More Importantly, How to Avoid Them by Dr. Robert Curran
My biggest problem with it is the fact that it deals almost exclusively with voodoo zombies but is full of pictures of Romero style zombies. The last chapter is the worst. It discusses what to do when approached by a zombie. After chapters of voodoo, it tells the reader to avoid the zombie because it can infect you (voodoo can't infect).
