I purchased this book and read it at the suggestion of a good friend, despite knowing absolutely nothing about golf. It reads surprisingly like an autobiography, yet it is a novel whose author had a very poignant agenda in writing. The story unfolds by a pro-golfer who earns the distinction of the hightest score in a professional tournament. Needing to refocus his game and skills he take a week out to do so at a small golf course in Utopia, Texas. There he meets a coach that helped him find show more his game again, probably better than before his embarrassing tragedy. Each day was full of completely different experience that helps him transform not only his golf game but his priorities and life. I could not put this short book down. show less
This is a great "pass-along" book that deals with the mind game as well as the physical game of golf. It is a great story about what is important in life, presented through a fictional (or is it?) story about a frustrated professional golfer who stumbles upon an out-of-the-way golf course and a teaching professional with a lot of wisdom. The story is not all about the inner game though. There is a great mix of life lessons, inner game ideas and a surprise twist related to golf technique. I show more couldn't put it down. show less
Two characters, an eccentric rancher who believes in truth, and a young golf professional trying to escape the pressures of the game, are stranded in the town of Utopia, Texas. This book has been made into a movie.
