- Kate Freeman is a product of the Great Plains, born in the fertile Platte Valley of Nebraska, seldom venturing beyond its borders. Her B.A. in Great Plains Studies comes from the University of Nebraska and a Masters in Library Science is the result of a distance learning program from the University of Missouri. In all of her writing, the land is a principal character. In fact, there was a time it could be said, every atom of a native-born resident came from that soil...and a good many of them return to it. That's the focus of Kate's writing...real life reconstructed and woven into tantalizing new forms. Theory is...if you haven't read the perfect story, it's time to write one.
