Not sure why my wife was dissatisfied with this as a Christmas present. it is well illustrated and describes all sorts of pigs and boars. As Sonder says in the introduction: 'the pig has been, mistakenly but understandably, considered filthy, greedy and dim. However, the pig is one of the most intelligent mammals...' The characteristics of pig breeds are described, e.g. page 30, Yorkshires are 'pink-skinned, white-bristled [and have]...a very long body'.

This is a really great basic book for the introduction into the heritage of today’s domesticated pigs and their ancestors still flourishing around the world, the wild boars.
