My paternal grandfather was a real-life cowboy (born 1880s), and he loved these cartoons. They have held up well after half a century, and contain not only funny stories but useful lessons about life and people.

If you have horses and cattle, you'll love this book about bunkhouse life on a ranch. I don't have cattle but the rural western lifestyle is still current today. I have neighbours who remind me of these characters.
