One of my favorite books as a teen! I recently found and purchased a copy of this for my own teenager, and couldn't put it down myself as an adult. This was probably more nostalgic for me, rather than actual good reading material...so this is likely not impartial on my part.
It's too bad they are not reprinting more of the supernatural-style books of the 80's, as this series might find a new generation of readers.

Devil Wind
(Dark Forces # 4)
by Laurie Bridges & Paul Alexander
1983
Bantam
3.5 / 5.0
The 1980's- a good time for horror. The 'Dark Forces' series, from the 80's, is solid, traditional series of horror and macabre novels and stories worth seeking out.
Mary-Anne and Peter sailing adventure turns treacherous when they stop in a cove for a picnic. Peter, digging through the relics, finds an ancient whistle. Of course, he blows the whistle; the weather turns dark, foggy and windy. Mary-Anne and Peter show more become separated. Mary-Anne finds the boat, and sails off to find someone to help her find Peter, who, unbeknownst to Mary-Anne has unleashed an evil Master by blowing the whistle, and is now trying to avoid and escape from the Master acolytes, who are following him.
Will Mary-Anne be able to find help....
Will Peter be able to save himself..... show less
