This was a really enjoyable book that I didn’t want to end. I’m not normally too keen on reading books about teenagers as I find most writers follow the main themes of growing up, high school, romance etc, but even though this book contained all of that, there was something really great about the way it was written and how it flowed so well, the characters were like-able, conversations were natural and easy and I found myself rooting for Janis and Scott. I like a book to have some show more mystery about it and the added concept of Janis feeling watched by Mr Leonard the neighbour really ramped up the fear factor for me. When it got to the climax when one of the characters gets seriously injured, I found the tenderness that emerged between Janis and Scott really touching and I found myself getting a bit teary which to me is a sign of a really good writer. I would love to know what happens next in this very promising series! show less

action/adventure, mage, magic, shifters, werewolves, fae, snarky, law enforcement, NYC

Non-stop action in NYC with a deviously twisty plot characterized by a really snarky good guy with a lot of personal problems. Get into the world of NYC politics where the dopey mayor is married to a werewolf and plans a law enforcement campaign to eliminate all of the scary non humans and get a ton of publicity in hopes of winning the next election. What a mess! There are several subplots, surprising show more twists, and it all adds up to an excellent read! show less
Brad Magnarella has created a fantasy world of walls, self-inflicted and imposed, in the trilogy, Prisoner of the Sun. Iliff's journey to find the Sun is filled with these walls and his need to break them down to complete his quest. The story is compelling, insightful, and filled with imagery that brings you into the pages and walking alongside Illif as he faces trials and temptations that will frustrate you as you plead with the text that he not make that step sure to lead him off the path. show more I had many shortened nights of sleep due to my desires to read on well into the wee hours. I highly recommend this work, though not the lack of sleep. show less

angst, Canada, werewolves, shifters, folklore, paramilitaries, action-adventure, snarky, testosterone-fest, suspense, twisty, Cree

Just when you thought you had a handle on the team working with Jason Wolfe and for the mercenary organization known as Centurion, a new assignment comes along and blows you away! This time it's the wilds of Canada. In the winter. With lots of snow. And a self important client who puts everyone in peril. Each member of the team has supernatural issues and that is show more both good and bad when they come up against a malevolent entity that takes the Cree legend up a notch. I really don't want to do the spoiler thing, so I'll just leave it at that. LOVED IT!
I requested and received a free ebook copy from the author because I just couldn't wait for publication.
Read it in September, but now have the Audio, too! That's because it's soooo much better with James Patrick Cronin giving the audio performance, and besides, I can listen to it in the car and drive passengers nutz!
