Rodeo Romance: Three Sweet Western Holiday Romances (Rodeo Romance Boxed Set Book 1) by Shanna Hatfield
I have just finished the first story in this box set and I doubt i will read the remainder. What follows was my reaction to the first book, “The. Christmas Cowboy.”
Clean, sweet romance. ✅
Good, engaging characters ✅
Fundamental plot has potential to be good. ✅
Totally let down by the fact that everything is ”tell” and no “show”. Sadly it made me feel like I was reading a list of chores - shopping; cook meal; eat meal; chat; wash up; go to bed. It was so uninvolving that I show more ended up skim-reading just to find out how it ended.
Disappointing. show less

Kenzie Becket travels a lot as a corporate trainer for a skin-care company. Tate Morgan's bronc riding profession also had him traveling often on the rodeo circuit. They noticed each other in various airports but never had the opportunity to meet until finally one day they sat beside each other waiting for the same flight.
Kenzie wanted nothing to do with Tate after being betrayed by two rodeo cowboys in the past. But she finally realized Tate wasn't like those other men and the show more attraction was too strong to walk away from.
This is a well written story with good characters, one being a cowboy! If you are looking for a clean romance you should read The Christmas Cowboy. show less

A nice lighter story for fans of clean contemporary romance. It's set around troubles on a family owned Christmas tree farm in Oregon. An enjoyable opposites-attract romance that had me smiling and sighing in spots as the couple navigates a rough start to become friends and more. Well-written dialogue and interesting characters. Good for fans of Hallmark stories. Loved the spry, interfering grandfather. A fun, fast read.
The QR Cod Killer was a reasonably well-written book but in a lot of situations I felt the author had stretched the ability to believe in what she'd written until it was a rather taut string stretched over a very long distance. The situations the Detective, Mad Dog Weber found herself in (and yes, that' is correct. Mad Dog is a woman!)asked for a suspension of belief I just wasn't capable of. The killer scenario was well-written and the suspense was kept moving along at a reasonable speed, show more but some of the things Mad Dog was allowed to, and chose to do seem at odds with everything I know about being a member of the police force. She just seemed to have way too much latitude in decision making, and it seemed someone would have reined her in much earlier in the peace. As to the decision to keep her family in the dark about the serial killer, then to have them attacked by said serial killer didn't seem to make a lot of sense to me. However, as I said above, it is reasonably well-written - I suggest you take a look for yourself and make up your own mind. show less
