I'm an experienced knitter but I've never knit socks until my sister turned me on to them. Socktupus has easy to follow instructions, great designs, which feature many different interesting heel designs compared to other books I own. My only regrets are that it doesn't have more men's sock patterns and that the patterns aren't written from the toe up. So you'll have to improvise on those 2 things.
I haven't tried to knit any from this book but I've knit some free patterns from this designer and I do like them. There wasn't one pattern here I wouldn't try. Definitely going into the buy pile.
Charts are wonky. Errata from author and publisher very different from Ravelry. Never a good sign. Tried second sock, seemingly the worst pattern of the book, got to heel in double the time it ought to have taken, having had to rip back three times. Then decided it was uglier than l thought from the picture. Not the author's fault. Sometimes that happems.
What a wonderful book on knitting socks. All have complete directions, patterns & color photos of each pair of socks.

There is a section on different yarns as well.

I did not know that socks are knit in pieces.... This book Almost makes me want to learn to knit, just for the beautiful socks!
