Think of this slim tome as the CliffNotes version of how to effectively prepare for, practice and deliver a speech. A motivated reader could sit down with this book for just a couple hours and literally come away with a few dozen practical tips for pulling off what many people view as one of the most anxiety-producing tasks in life. Don't look for any lofty theories or detailed analysis in this handy guidebook. It's a down-and-dirty crash-course that strips public speaking to its bare show more essence. I've been teaching public speaking courses on two college campuses for years. We use a much more detailed text because we have over three months to explore this complex topic. But for folks who only have a few hours as opposed to a few months to assemble a checklist of helpful hints, this is your book. show less
I was assigned this book for my college public speaking course, and it was used alongside the course material. If you see a need for such a guide I imagine it could be useful—though not a substitute for practice!
All around, satisfactory, and if it is what you are looking for, perhaps it can be of good use.

A handy little guide to public speaking. Just the information needed and no waste. I'll keep this little book forever.
