The artwork in this deck fascinates me, it is both incredibly detailed and yet still slightly obscure and I love the use of metallic inks, giving the images more depth and interest. While I know the art is supposed to be based off of the Medieval style I get more of a Gustave Moreau and Symbolic feel from it.
The Major Arcana are handled wonderfully and are easily interpreted, I have a bit of a problem with some of the Minor Arcana as some are more abstract than others, you have to be a bit show more more reliant on remembering the meanings of each card without the images to help guide you. I would love to use this deck more for readings as I feel it would be a fascinating experience but I have to hard a time handling the oversized cards, they are nearly impossible for me to shuffle, which is my only quibble with this deck. show less

I very rarely use this deck. It is pretty, gilded and inspired by medieval art and tapestry, but it the imagery is cluttered and wooden in the tradition of that art, and though I can appreciate its visual beauty, I discovered that it fails to resonate properly, making it decidedly lackluster for reading.
Interesting artwork with esoteric symbolism. I find this deck's style to be less meaningful than it should be in order to give a satisfying reading. The taller-than-normal card size also makes it difficult to shuffle.
I read with this deck for a number of years, but it's been a long time. The images are on the macabre side, intense and disturbing. They are also beautiful, in their own way, but in the end, I found I wanted a deck that was a bit gentler in its imagery.
