This book is a collection of rhymes about a bug that was very child friendly. After the rhyme introduces a new bug it went into using scientific language to explain different parts of that bug, where it lives, and what it does. This used more academic language but it was still child friendly. I thought this book was super interesting and fun to read through, I learned a lot for it which is fun! I think that this book would have a strong role in the intermediate setting to use as a resources show more to look at specific bugs. I can think of situations where we could use it as a resource as a whole class but I also think that there would be a group of students who would enjoy looking through and reading it independently. show less
I realty loved this book! This book was full of information and diagrams of bugs! Some of the information may be difficult for younger readers but there was also a sentence or two that framed a short story about the bug the students were going to learn about. Each diagram has labels of body parts on each bug. In the back of the book there are picture and labels of the growth stages of certain insects which would be good for students to reference if they were doing a project about a certain show more insect. show less
Summary: This book gives information about 16 common bugs from a horsefly to a dragonfly. The back of the book gives information of how bugs age as well as the different phylums.

Personal Reaction: I think this is a great book for kids who are interested in learning more about bugs. This is not a book I would read aloud to class except for maybe a page at a time.

Classroom Extensions:
1. This book would work great with a unit over insects. When discussing a certain bug I would go back to this show more book.

2. If I had a child find a bug out on the playground, I would ask them to look it up in this book and then share with the class.

Bugs was about information on bugs such as; what they are found on, what they look like, if they can spread diseases, where they are found, what is good about them, and what is bad about them. It showed infromation on bugs like; horsefly, ant, ticks, fleas, slugs, spiders, moths, crickets, etc. It also showed growth stages in the back of the book of the bugs.

I liked this book because it went into great deal about every bug shown. I liked how it showed the picutures of them too. I liked how it show more also told a story with them bug and asked a question like who woke Ada? The last page had good information on it for kids to see.

I would use this book in my classroom when were we on the subject of bugs. If we were having a week focused on bugs I might pick 5 bugs out of the book and discuss them.
