As always, the artwork is beautiful. But Adrian acts way too young to be a 12-year-old, and the women are always drawn with sensuality to the point that no matter how close, far away, or contrived there's a cleavage shot. There are some cocaine references, and a character is seen snorting it (only the top of the straw is shown; the substance is hidden).
On the plus side, the story continues to be interesting, looking at the seedy, underground world of a mixture of pro-wrestling and boxing.

I read this series for the energy and the three main characters. This volume still has some action and character development, but too much time is spent with secondary and tertiary characters explaining some of the behind the scenes stuff happening in previous volumes and setting plots into motion for future volumes. It's still well done, but nowhere nearly as engaging as the first four books. I have hopes for a return to form in volume six.
This fifth volume of the Last Man (which will make sense only really if you read the three: The Stranger, the Royal Cup, The Chase & The Show.
The main characters, Adrian, a young boy, and his mother, Marianne, have left the Valley of the Kings to find Richard Aldana, the anti-hero of the first four volumes. They end up in a city where another fighting championship is taking place, run by drug dealers and crooks: Richard is a past champion, coerced into fighting again, Marianne and Adrian show more also entering the competition. As the plot unravels, our main protagonists find themselves on the run from the fight organisers and the Order of the Lion.
This volume also ends on a cliffhanger as there is a sixth volume in which the plot will continue.
This comic is made of black-and-white line drawings (in my digital edition anyway). Engaging and entertaining. In my version , there are loads of spelling mistakes (“fatalaties”, “I’ve know you” etc..)
Recommended for lovers comics involving martial arts with supernatural elements and non-stop action. show less

Realllly liked it. Loved the loose art style, the characters are resounding and resonant. Can't wait to get the next volume!
