Short biography
Marion Gordon "Pat" Robertson (March 22, 1930 – June 8, 2023) was an American media mogul, televangelist, political commentator, presidential candidate, and charismatic minister. Robertson advocated a conservative Christian ideology and was known for his involvement in Republican Party politics. He was associated with the Charismatic movement within Protestant evangelicalism. He served as head of Regent University and of the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN).

Robertson's career spanned over five decades, and was the founder of several organizations, including CBN, Regent University, Operation Blessing International Relief and Development Corporation, the International Family Entertainment Inc. (ABC Family Channel/Freeform), the American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ), the Founders Inn and Conference Center, and the Christian Coalition. Robertson was also a best-selling author and the host of The 700 Club, a Christian News and TV program broadcast live weekdays on Freeform (formerly ABC Family) from CBN studios, as well as on channels throughout the United States, and on CBN network affiliates worldwide. Robertson retired from The 700 Club in October 2021.

In general, I enjoy apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic novels, which is the only reason I ever got this book. I found it fairly hard to finish this book, for the expected reason, the fact that Mr. Robertson tries to use it as an indoctrination tool. This is NOT Science Fiction. There are several places where he tries to make it sound like a mainstream science fiction novel, and fails. The description of the 'meteor' strike and the ensuing earthquake chain are the most glaring examples.

It is show more very much a Fundamentalist Christian novel. He quotes heavily from the Bible, and pretty much ignores other religious beliefs, other than to demonize Hindu religions. If you aren't Christian, you are EVIL is the final takeaway from it. show less
This is a book Pat Robertson wrote long before he lost his sense of judgment and ran for president of the United States. It delineates a number of laws by which Robertson believes God's kingdom operates in the material world. The laws seem to be both rational and biblically derived. The book is obviously Charismatic.
Pat Robertson deals with a wide array of questions dealing with Christian behavior in modern culture. Some of the answers are well-reasoned and biblical; others are not. The greatest flaw in this work is that the author provides Robertson's answers rather than Bible answers. The two are not always the same.
This book was okay, and had *some* thoughtful answers, but a braver and more thoughtful Christian book on current issues is 20 Hot Potatoes Are Afraid to Touch, by Tony Campolo.
