Lulu Li has just graduated from high school and looking forward to summer adventures with her best friends before college. Then Lulu's (Lovely) former best friend, neighbor, maybe crush, and K-pop superstar, comes home for a mysterious hiatus from the band. A summer fling ensues rife with some drama. Subplot with Lulu's dad kind of falls flat for me, but the story was readable, fun, and the characters likeable.
Between chapters there are lyrics, notes, and messages that help move the story show more along. show less

teen fiction/k-pop romance - being in love with your childhood bestie who is now a k-pop idol taking a mental health break from the biz with his family in New Jersey.

this is a sweet treat, a delightful summer escape (with an incidentally bisexual female lead). I'm not surprised to learn that the author is a librarian; she knows how to write an entertaining story.
