This is Soccer by Margaret Blackstone is an excellent book for kids of all ages. The book begins by introducing the reader to a soccer ball, soccer player, and cleat. It continues through a simulated game noting parts of the field, offense, defense, and defining goals. The book has rhyming words throughout the pages and the sentences are short and easy to read. Additionally, the book has both male and female illustrated players, appealing to both genders. The illustrations are cute and my show more students had an easy time connecting to this book. I read it to my kindergarten boys to practice a comprehension strategy: Check for Understanding. The boys also asked me to put the book in our classroom library so that they could take a turn reading it. show less
Great resource for the older tweens, chock full of crucial information like the changes taking place outside (acne, breasts, pubic hair), inside (menstruation, sanitary options, toxic shock syndrome) and what's happening emotionally. Also includes chapters on bullying, peer pressure and staying safe online. A ton of information for $10.95.
The book is black, white and purple with a small amount of illustrations - nowhere near as colourful as the cover which is why I think younger girls won't show more find it as engaging. show less
This book goes through your first year after being diagnosed with MS on a day-by-day, month-by-month basis. It's one of the better 'introduction to MS' books I've come across, though I didn't use it 'as intended' (going through one chapter each day at the beginning, then a chapter each week, then moving to one chapter a month for the later chapters), I instead read it cover to cover. There's not a huge amount of information here that's not available in other books, but it's presented well, show more easy to understand, and well paced. show less
This book is great for any child interested in figure skating or classroom learning about figure skating. I will use it during the world champions week at the preschool I work at. Figure skating is a sport most children don't know about.
