I have been an Elle Casey fan since way back when her characters were hugging trees and getting wrecked.. and Just One Night: Part 1 was just another reason why I adore Elle! Her writing is so smooth, you just get sucked in. Then out of no where, something will happen and you'll end up laughing your ass off. And not just a smile, but one where you have to put the book down and laugh!
For me, her adult contemporary books aren't as fun as her YA series, but they are definitely sexy! Omg are show more they sexy. Oh how I wish this weren't a serial read.. I wanna know have to know what's going to happen.. how things left off. GOSH. This is the reason why I typically avoid serials. It's like eating chips for dinner (not enough to fill me up). But being the loyal fan that I am, I will be waiting on the edge of my seat for two weeks for the next part!!
Overall, Part 1 was great. I like the storyline, the characters, and the angst. It is sexy and funny, utterly charming! You want a light, quick steamy read.. here ya go! show less

Once again Elle Casey raises the bar. Just when you think it can't get any better you read the next book and are blown away. I haven't been a Young Adult in quite a while except at heart which just goes to show that anyone of any age can enjoy these books. Just when I think I have everything and everyone figured out Mrs. Casey takes the story on an unexpected turn. I really did not see certain events coming. There's a character (or two) that I really want to like but it's getting very hard show more after all the bad things they've done. I hope they can change but it's hard to tell at the moment. I think Jayne has finally settled on who is going to be her romantic interest and I was happy to see who it was (pretty much the guy I was hoping she'd fall for since the first book) although you never know with these books so I'll just keep my fingers crossed. Tim and his son are insane. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in my life. What's with the "Spider Nakies" and "polly balls"? I don't even know how she comes up with this stuff but I'm certainly glad she does.
Elle Casey has a wonderful imagination, her characters are real, flawed, funny and everything you'd expect out of a motley group of friends. Her sense of humor leaves me laughing for most of the book (my relatives think I'm insane by now I'm sure) and her pacing is perfect. She's truly a talented author and I'm so glad that Amazon, Goodreads, etc have made it possible for independent authors everywhere to share their stories with us. This book deserves to be on the shelf at every single bookstore, Walmart, Target, anywhere books are sold, it's simply that good. I have to go start the 3rd book now. It's been hard writing this review and waiting even this long to see what happens next. These books just pull you straight into them and once you're there you'll never want to leave. show less

Picking up The Changelings was something I am so happy I did! After finishing this last night, I'm still reeling from the total awesome package that Elle Casey has put forth in this story. Fabulous characters, an amazing and quick moving plot line, dark ktwists and turns. This is a book that I absolutely devoured. Anyone who tells you self-published books are inferior to traditionally published books...well they haven't read this.
Jayne Sparks is quite a powder keg of a girl! She's feisty, show more she's tough, and she has more potential brewing inside her than she truly knows. Equipped with a mouth to match her attitude, there are quite a few times where Jayne's sentiments about her situation made me crack up laughing. Be warned, Jayne does have a potty-mouth. If she's feeling it, she's not afraid to speak it (or think it rather loudly). I loved her for that. Her wit keeps the book moving, and her honest feelings keep you in step with her the whole way through the book.
The other characters don't fade into black though, despite how lovely and loud Jayne is. Each of her compatriots has their own fantastic personality, complete with strengths and weaknesses. I grew to adore each of them in time. To be honest I became so wrapped up in them after a while, that any time there was the possibility of a battle I was breathless. You know that feeling when you don't want your favorite person to be snuffed out? Multiply that by the number of characters in this book and you've got a reader who is barely breathing as she flips the pages.
I'm not going to lie, The Changelings initially threw me off. I heard fae, and I thought about every other book I've read pertaining to their lore. Color me surprised when Jayne's story was a lot darker than I expected. The plot moves at a fiery pace, and the twists and turns will keep you on your feet. There is death in this story. There is blood, gore and fighting. Fair warning. If that's not for you, you might want to keep your distance. If you're like me though, you'll eat it up and just read faster.
Long story short, this was a book that I more than enjoyed! I loved it. The ending caught me off guard, although it was perfectly done. With that evil cliffhanger looming over me, you can guarantee that I'll be impatiently waiting for more! Now that I've met Jayne, now that I've seen what fantastic writing Elle Casey is capable of, I'm a fan girl. Count me in for more. show less

Drifter’s Alliance by Elle Casey is the first book in a space opera series that has left me wanting more. Nineteen year old Cass has won a space ship in a card game, now she has to secure allies, establish a course of action and escape the clutches of the OSG, the elite command that her father is a major general of.
The book basically only covers one day and the story is definitely setting up the situation and characters for more to come, but I enjoyed the writing, the pacing, the humor and show more the promise of plenty of action so I will be reaching for the next volume as soon as I can fit it into my reading schedule.
As a science fiction adventure, Drifter’s Alliance has all the right ingredients with intriguing characters, a great setting in a rickety space ship that needs some TLC, and the promise of stunts, exploits and operations to come. Judging by the quirky characters and the humorous situations, the book doesn’t take itself too seriously but offers colorful and exciting galactic adventures. show less
