Enjoyable little cozy read through Whispersync/Immersion reading. The narrator does a great job.
The book is populated by zany, quirky characters with the main ones being members of the Chubby Chicks Club. The two members working together to solve the murder are Cat and Anna Mae. The Quirky and appealing nature of these characters makes it possible to overlook the implausible parts of the story while some of the situations they find themselves in truly funny.

Lois Lavrisa really knows how to write a cozy mystery and Killing with Kings does not disappoint. José is enjoying a poker game with some friends and colleagues prior to going on leave when one of the players loathed by pretty much everyone dies. As much as José would like not to care about the guy his instincts tell him something isn't right. From here we have many twists and turns a few red herrings and a surprise or 2 to keep you on your toes. I also really enjoyed how there was also show more the story of José's struggle with coming out with who he really is instead of hiding. I can not wait for the next book to see what is in store for us!! show less
This was a fun, light mystery, focusing more on characters and their interactions than on derring-do. And it's fun to see women of a certain age as sleuths!
Also, unlike several of the "cozies" I've read recently, the women are NOT doormats. Yay!
The mystery was good, with several intriguing twists and some red herrings.
I just wish there had been more than hints of the various alt Hamlets, especially the rap one and the Swan Lake one!

WOW, I do love a "who done it" novel and I found myself laughing at Cat and Annie Mae who decided to track down their friend's murderer. All in one day on the job, the two sleuth's were chased out a grocery store, almost burnt to death in a dumpster, almost run over on the street, a caught impersonating police officers! Not back for their FIRST day on the job!
