Although the author affected a writer's voice that is best described as "official history," and thus rather dry, the fact that this book is larded with personal accounts and images generated by the members of the 10th Photo-Recon Group makes it very useful as a primary source. For me, the best parts were the transition of the constituent units from the pedestrian "corps observation" aircraft beloved by the soldiers overseeing the United States Army Air Service to show more truly high-performance aircraft, or the group's activities during the "Battle of the Bulge." show less
