I expected a more technical overview on SCM that could help me decide which components are worthwhile to implement and which would prove to cumbersome for a given project. In a very large project in a large company
I noticed several instances where the author advocated something (e.g. doing X improves Y) without citing any studies conducted on the subject that would point to a real improvement, these "from-the-gut" recommendations are hardly the concrete data I expected from a software show more engineering book.
I was familiar with nearly all of the concepts related to SCM so most of the book didn't teach me anything new
All in all, the book isn't bad, I'd recommend it to someone who has heard of SCM but is not familiar with all the related concepts.
If you've read something more technical on SCM please leave me a note, as I'm still interested on the subject. show less
