More than 15 centuries have passed since Christianity was brought to the nort-east of Scotland. In the 5th century St. Ninian and his missionaries from Whithorn began their Christianizing of Pictland, completing the task in the north-east - Aberdeen, Deeside, Donside and Buchan - over the next 500 years. This gem of a book records the Saints and their Feast Days and the Church Foundations in and around Aberdeen mentioned in the Kalendar. The Fair Days, Holy Wells and Symbol Stones and some show more place names are now all that remain to remind us of the missionaries who laboured to spread the Gospel all those centuries ago. The Kalendar of Saints by Fenton Wyness, who did the beautiful lino cut illustrations of the north-east has created a beautiful memento to this. show less
