Reviews
Joseph Durso's The Days of Mr. McGraw tries to do many things at once--cover the life of one of baseball's greatest managers, review the early history of baseball and of the New York Giants and place baseball in the social context of American life. It succeeds best in covering McGraw's early life and in showing how baseball fit into a changing America. While I enjoyed it, it raised as many questions about McGraw and the Giants as it answered. Good as an overview and social history.
