Freddie Levin is a delightful grandmother type who has written 10 other books that have sold over 1 million copies. They give drawing instructions to new young artists on various topics. All of her books are in a 1-2-3 series and aimed at the budding artist in the 6 to 10 age group. Draw Dogs is a technique-style which starts with simple tools like a pencil, an eraser and paper. Other tools are a pencil sharpener, colored pencils for finished drawings, and a folder to keep your work show more together.

All the tips in this book are geared so that the next Picasso can have fun, create something that looks like a dog, and have an understanding of the different types and sizes of dogs. There are 24 different dogs which are individually illustrated so that all the dogs drawn do not look alike.

The book itself is of heavyweight paper so that it will not be easily torn or mutilated should it fall while trying to work with it. A well thought out book and a great addition to a child’s best beloved books.
