In terms of theology, this is a brilliant and helpful book. Prince looks at what the bible says about the church, including its leadership structure, and presents what he believes it shows in clear detail, with numerous verses to support his view. As Prince himself states in terms of intention: "If we are going to build the real church, we will have to work very hard to get down to the biblical bedrock. We must remove layers of assumptions, traditions, and erroneous teaching to lay a pure show more foundation. That is what I hope this book will help to accomplish." (page 167). Of course, any opinion should be taken back to the Bible, but Prince does make this easier with his references.
Prince accepts that signs and wonders should be a part of the picture: "Once, a preacher was speaking on the gifts of the Holy Spirit. At the end of his message, a lady came up to him and said, "Brother, we don't have these gifts in our church." He said, "Well, they have them in the church of Jesus Christ. Which is your church?" (page 28) But Prince also takes the time to consider why things like this may not be as common in some churches: "You have probably heard the complaint, "Lord, the signs don't follow!" The answer is that they are promised only to those who go! [in Mark 16:15-17] You may also have heard the saying that it is difficult to follow a parked car. A large part of the body of Christ is a parked car, parked on the church parking lot with no vision beyond it." (page 175) Statements like this are good challenges to modern Western believers.
A good chunk of the book simply describes the New Testament ministries and gifting and what they look like - including what the New Testament qualifications for church leadership are. This means that this book is a helpful resource for those, like myself, who are in church leadership and looking to make sure they are following God's principles in how they do things.
Worth a read in that context. Interesting in a Christian context. show less

Having had the privilege of working at the author's ministry headquarters in the English countryside, I looked forward with anticipation to reading a new compilation of Mr Prince's previously unpublished work. It doesn't disappoint.
From his opening statement of purpose, readers are in for a bit of sod turning. "The ultimate purpose of this book is for you to discover what does and does not matter in your CHristian walk...a matter of critical importance...confusion on this issue is the root show more of most of our problems." What are the issues of religious law vs grace that need recognition in our own lives? In the Church? Have we relegated ourselves to lives of rules and regulations? Lives of striving? Analysis is followed with anti-dote. God's gift of grace.
Mr Prince leads us into a comprehensive and life-changing understanding of grace beginning with Romans 10.4, "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes." With this fresh perspective we begin to live the life of liberty and freedom that God's gift of grace provides. Mr Prince goes on to develop this in its entirety for full benefit and release from living a life of religious constraints.
What I love about Derek Prince's writing is his ability to distill his thorough knowledge of difficult topics into accessible language that ensures our understanding and ability to apply the principles learned. The application of those truths is up to us.
By Grace Alone provides us with seeds of grace we can choose to plant in the soil of our heart. The impetus of the Holy Spirit will bring it to fruition. Let us keep the soil clear of religious weeds that will try to choke out the new growth. And let us pray for fresh rainfall to increase the growth of grace presented via this excellent new release from Derek Prince... show less

Through the Psalms: Meditations for Inspiration, Strength and Intimacy with the Good Shepherd by Derek Prince
This new book has everything I enjoy in a devotional! Short but powerful selections that feature God's Word, personal recollections from the author, and simple prayers for added inspiration. Author Derek Prince uses this format to showcase various psalms of David and offer "meditations for inspiration, strength, and intimacy with the Good Shepherd". I found the 101 devotions to be insightful and uplifting, so Prince definitely fulfilled his purpose!
I've always loved David's Psalms, so I'm show more thrilled to have this book to help me understand them more. Through the Psalms is a wonderful resource for my worship time.

I don’t think much has been written about the Pilgrims quite like this book has. It reminds us where a group of people came together in unity and planted seeds of hope. They used that foundation to build a nation that worked together and helped each other out. Today I question if we are still rooted in those principles.
I liked how the author illustrates sowing and reaping in regard to nations. If our nation sows seed of peace we will reap those rewards. We need to be sowing things that show more aligns us with God’s will. I can see that we have slipped away from God’s will in the many issues going on in America right now.
The book takes us back in history and explores what the Pilgrims started. They wanted everyone to be in one accord. They lived in covenant with each other and God. They had Godly principles that they followed and were an example to many. I liked how the author uses scriptures in the book and highlights how dedicated the Pilgrims were to living in harmony with each other. It was interesting to read how they fasted and prayed together.
This is a good book for everyone to read and learn how a group of people followed God, stayed in covenant with Him and shared His Word and teaching with others by their actions.
