Some of these poems, especially the ones in the latter half, made me go "OH MY GOD." e.g. "The Sense Record."
Two long poems, derived obliquely from reworkings of Rosa Luxemburg's letters to her lover. Shimmering and diffuse, this book reads like a Marxist critique of relationship dynamics, atomized into a fine vapor, almost a tint.
A book of free verse. While I was at first discouraged by her poems, as I read on, I was more and more impressed. I don't read all that much poetry (something I mean to fix) so it took me a while to get into it. (Of course, afterwords, I find myself reading prose as poetry. Very odd sensation.) Going back and re-reading poems also brings a more holistic sort of sense to them, and is much more enjoyable than the first go-round. While I don't think she's going to make any breakthroughs in the show more realm of poetic verse, she is very skilled at what she does, and is a good read. One thing, though, is very much for sure - Moxley will expand your vocabulary! 8/10 show less
