This book is essentially a self-help book targeted towards teens. Specifically, the targeted teens are those from underprivileged backgrounds, which is an honorable credit to the books publisher (especially since they have a program that distributes this book for free to certain youth-oriented organizations).
It uses the Slight Edge, something that bears a striking resemblance to the Seven Habits, only there are eight of them. Throughout the book are personal insights from real teens who have show more written for various teen publications, reprinted here with a focus on showing real-life examples of the Slight Edge in work. Additionally, there are workbook exercises to help the reader come to realize his or her goals, and make steps towards making those dreams a reality.
This book is recommended for any teen who feels like they are lost at sea in an uncaring world, or who feel their life has no direction. Also recommended for teens who are apathetic about life in general, or just waiting for that "someday" to get their lives back on track. The book appeals to all types, being not that thick (~140 pages) but full of useful information.
Like every other self-help book, though, the authors' suggestions should be taken with a grain of salt; but also, remember, it's a SELF-help book: you are responsible for making the changes in your life in the end. So, if you need that slight edge to get ahead in this crazy world, while you won't find success in the pages of this book, this book will help you find success in yourself. show less
