Thank you to Clarkson Potter / Ten Speed Press for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!

Forever Stamps explores the idea that postage stamps are more than just functional objects, they’re a part of America’s cultural identity and a record of history. The book encourages readers to think of stamps as messengers, reminding us of the personal and meaningful connections created through sending mail.

Rather than acting solely as a visual catalog, show more this book provides fascinating facts and context about stamps and how they’re chosen. One detail I found especially interesting was learning that presidential stamps are only issued after a president’s passing, typically around the first anniversary of their death or near their birthday, and must be approved by both the family and the Postmaster General. These kinds of insights highlight how much care, symbolism, and history go into stamp design.

The book emphasizes that stamps are not just aesthetic collectibles, they preserve moments, honor people, and reflect cultural values over time.

Overall, Forever Stamps is an informative and visually appealing read that would make an excellent coffee table book. It’s perfect for history lovers, design enthusiasts, or anyone curious about how something as small as a stamp can carry so much meaning.

Amazing collection of stamp books.. each book represents ten years of the 20th century. Very informative history. Each book should have accompanied stamp sheets.
First Day Covers: 3 ea. Sentimental Journey, Piper Aviation Museum June 24-27, 1998; Antarctica Souvenir Cover (1956?)
3 sheets $0.32 (20 ea.) Classic American Aircraft 1996

The Postal Service commemorated Classic American Aircraft with the issuance of a pane of twenty 32-cent stamps on July 19, 1997, in Dayton, Ohio. The stamps went on sale nationwide July 21.
The pane was designed by Phil Jordan of Falls Church, Virginia, and illustrated by William Phillips, one of the world's leading show more aviation print artists. Twenty-two different classic American aircraft are featured on the pane, twenty on the stamps and two on the header. The civilian and wartime aircraft collection emphasizes the innovative and technological advances spanning the first fifty years of American aviation history.
The stamps were sold only as a pane of twenty, not as individual stamps. This marked the fifth "Classic Collection" of stamps issued by the Postal Service. Stamp Venturers, Inc., printed the stamps in the gravure process.
